Vol 1 No 01 (2019): Why does Life need people?
The Journal of the Ethical Feast is an exploration of the dance between restraint and abundance. The Ethical Feast complements our species' many urgings to mature and complexify into whatever we are becoming.
The journal invites meditations and research driven by the generative question: "Why does Life need us?"
The Journal is untethered to current "pragmatism"...however, it is solidly connected to daily practice and the reality of lived experience. We do not argue of campaigns, religions, political movements, or spiritual discoveries. Though these are all experiences and valid expressions, the purpose here is a bit different.
A reminder about how we see the world:
If you deal with society, you must accept its ways, for its ways are your ways. Your needs and demands have created them. Your desires are so complex and contradictory – no wonder the society you create is also complex and contradictory. - Sri Nisagardatta Maharaj, I Am That
And a glimmering from Maya Angelou:
We, this people, on this small and drifting planet
Whose hands can strike with such abandon
That in a twinkling, life is sapped from the living
Yet those same hands can touch with such healing, irresistible tenderness
That the haughty neck is happy to bow
And the proud back is glad to bend
Out of such chaos, of such contradiction
We learn that we are neither devils nor divines
